Mini Battle Report - What Do You Call Rolling Three 1's? Triple Snake Eyes?

Played a little morning game today with Khador vs. Legion. The scenario was the Steamroller 2015 Out Flank which is pretty simple: 1 point if you Control a zone and 2 points if you Dominate a zone. No Killbox and no Objectives. As simple as it gets.

Let's take a look at the armies:

pButcher - Bombs Away (50 Points)

Warcaster: pButcher
Warjack: Behemoth
Warjack: Destroyer
Unit: Winterguard Infantry + UA
Solo: Kovnik Joe
Unit: Kayazy Assassins + UA
Unit: Man-O-War Bombadiers
Solo: Wardog
Solo: Widomaker Marksman

pVayl - Altered Beasts (50 Points)

Warcaster: pVayl
Warbeast: Scythean
Warbeast: Scythean
Warbeast: Carnivean
Warbeast: Angelious
Warbeast: Shredder
Unit: Blighted Ogrun Warspears + UA
Solo: Blighted Nyss Shepard
Solo: Forsaken
Solo: Totem Hunter

The game swung for both sides. On the second turn, pButcher popped his feat and was able to take out a Scythean and hurt another one pretty bad. It looked grim for pVayl.

Legion made a very good counter attack by killing Behemoth and killing off some Winterguard Infantry. The Carnivean and Shredder had a hard time on the left flank with the Iron Fleshed Kayazy Assassins with their defense 17. (19 in melee)

Khador was able to retaliate after taking that huge blow and was able to wipe out EVERY SINGLE model except for pVayl but pButcher was left out in the open with 2 focus and 1 health.

All Legion needed to do was to have pVayl roll 6+ with three dice and hit with Hoarfrost then just roll another 5+ with three dice to kill pButcher. pVayl rolled a huge first roll and was able to hit pButcher but then rolled three 1's costing her the game. She had a 98.15% chance to win and blew it!

pButcher easily moved up and one shotted her to snatch victory from her grasps.

What I learned

I'm not sure I would have changed what pVayl did. An all or nothing shot with a 98.15% chance to win is pretty dang good. She could have casted two Hoarfrosts and not used Incite and that would have given her two 80%+ chance to win. Maybe that would have been better? Probably not. Just bad dice today!
