Warmachine Battle Reports: Khador (Harkevich) vs. Khardor (Lord Koslov) - Steamroller 2016 Entrenched

Harkevich and his steam powered army has come to wreck some face! He's just finished wiping the blood of Drake MacBain off of his shoes (View his battle report vs Drake MacBain) and is ready to take on Lord Koslov and his band of Man-O-Wars.

Here's today's Lists:

Warcaster: Lord Koslov
Warjack: Ruin
Warjack: Beast 09
Unit: Man-O-War Shocktroopers
Unit: Man-O-War Shocktroopers
Unit: Man-O-War Bombardieers
Unit: Widowmaker Scouts
Solo: Widowmaker Markman
Solo: Man-O-War Kovnik

Warcaster: Harkevich
Warjack: Behemoth
Warjack: Black Ivan
Warjack: Destroyer
Warjack: Devastator
Warjack: Decimator
Warjack: Juggernaut

Top of Turn 1: Harkevich - Harkevich smells dirty Man-O-War blood and casts Mobility which gives his Battlegroup +2 SPD and Pathfinder and moves up the field. His wall of metal runs up as far as they can.

Bottom of Turn 1: Lord Koslov - Koslov activates and casts Tactical Supremacy which gives Reposition 3 on the Man-O-War Shocktroopers at the top of the battlefield and Fury which gives +3 to POW to the Shocktrooper unit on the bottom. He then moves up. Ruin and Beast 09 run up to give him some cover and the Widowmakers + Marksman set up and snipe 7 damage on the Juggernaut.

The Man-O-War Kovnik activates and gives the Shocktroopers on the top Desperate Pace which gives them +2 Movement. The Shocktroopers run up the battlefield 10" and pile in as best as they can. The Bomardiers move up and the bottom Shocktroopers run to try and contest their friendly zone.

Picture is of End of Round 2

Top of Turn 2: Harkevich - The goal for this turn was to take out a threat with the massive firepower of the Behemoth, Black Ivan, Decimator, and the Destroyer. Harkevich uses Mobility again and moves behind the forest. His Battlegroup moves up and unleashes a barrage of Boosted POW 14s and with some good dice, they are able to kill Ruin.

The Devastator runs up and engages the unit of Man-O-War Shocktroopers and the Juggernaut does the same at the top of the battlefield.

Bottom of Turn 2: Lord Koslov - For some reason I'm missing a picture of this turn but it was quite uneventful. Koslov upkeeps Fury and Tactical Supremacy on the two units of Man-O-War Shocktroopers. The bottom unit of Shocktroopers plink away at an ARM 23 Devastator and do 5 damage. The top unit of Shocktroopers put some more hurt on the Juggernaut. The Bombardiers do a Combined Ranged Attack and finish off the remaining boxes on the Juggernaut.

The Widowmaker Scouts and Widowmaker Marksman block a charge lane from Behemoth to Beast 09 and put 7 damage in his column 4. Beast 09 sets up to charge Behemoth next turn.

Top of Turn 3: Harkevich - If Behemoth can hold his own for a round then it's looking like an easy Scenario win for Harkevich. Harkevich moves towards the enemy zone and pops his feat giving his battlegroup +3 ARM and free charges.

The Devastator is able to push and kill one of the Man-O-War Shocktroopers while the Destroyer just barely finishes off the Objective giving Harkevich 1 point. The Decimator charges in and kills another Man-O-War Shocktrooper which allows them to Control the enemy zone for another point.

Black Ivan drops his bomb on Beast 09 doing a few damage to it. Behemoth decides to go for the grouped up Widowmaker Scouts and Marksman because they'll be much harder to deal with since they are fast and can easily contest. He drops his first shot killing the Marksman and 1 Widowmaker and decides to switch strategies and takes a shot on Beast 09 which hurts him pretty good.

Bottom of Turn 3: Lord Koslov - This was a rough round for Koslov because of Harkevich's feat. Koslov upkeeps Fury on the bottom Shocktrooper Unit which is down to 3 models. He lets Tactical Supremacy drop off the top Shocktrooper unit and they charge into the objective easily taking it out. They are also able to put a few damage on Behemoth.

Koslov pops his feat and charges at Behemoth doing some more damage on him and Sidesteps backwards. A fully loaded Beast 09 charges Behemoth and gets him down to 4 boxes. ARM 23 is a tough nut to crack. The Bombardiers launch a CRA at the Decimater and do some damage on him but nothing significant.

At the end of the round the score is Harkevich 2 and Koslov 1.

Top of Turn 4: Harkevich - Harkevich does the math and sees a chance to win. He needs to allocate just enough so that his Battlegroup can finish off the remaining Man-O-War Shocktroopers at the bottom and then run into the zone. The Battlegroup does their job easily and at the end of the turn the score is Harkevich 3 / Koslov 1. If he can clear the zone next turn he'll have a Scenario win.

Bottom of Turn 3: Lord Koslov - It's looking pretty bad for Koslov but he might be able to pull off a Scenario win if he can just contest for 2 turns. Koslov has no Warjacks to allocate to so he camps his full 6. The Bombardiers perform a Run/Charge order and get one charge off on the Decimator which does no damage. The rest of the Bombardiers run to hopefully contest.

Beast 09 is quite far away so he just runs up toward his friendly zone. The Widowmakers Activate and run their 12" in to strategic spots that hopefully will make it tough for Harkevich to clear the zone. One of them runs and engages Harkevich, another engages Black Ivan and the Decimator and the last one runs towards the corner.

The turn ends at Harkevich 3 / Koslov 3.

Top of Turn 4: Harkevich - This is a do or die round for Harkevich. If he can clear the 3 Widowmakers he wins by Scenario. If he fails to do so, Koslov wins. A fully loaded Destroyer turns around to take out a Widowmaker and fails to roll a 7 on Boosted dice twice. Black Ivan turns around and takes out the other Widowmaker. The Decimator takes a free strike to try and get a shot on the furthest Widowmaker but loses his left arm when he tries to move away.

It's all up to Harkevich. He's got to kill 2 Widowmakers with 2 boosted MAT 7 shots. He moves in position between them with his 1" melee range but takes a free strike which does 4 damage. He then boosts both shots and kills both Widowmakers ending the game with a scenario win Harkevich 5 / Koslov 4.

Final Shot - This was an interesting game. Any other Scenario and I think Koslov is at a huge disadvantage for attrition. Man-O-Wars just don't do enough work vs. ARM 20.  The scenario was just spread out enough that it gave him a shot.

Koslov would have a better chance if he had popped his feat on turn 2 and charged Beast 09 into Behemoth. He also would have probably won if he had spread out his Widowmakers on the very last turn. Harkevich's bad dice would have made it very hard to kill an out of reach Widowmaker.

The best move of the game was when Behemoth decided to shoot an AOE into the Widowmakers instead of taking a shot at Beast 09. It cost him his life but he made it harder for Koslov to contest with the Widowmakers.

Harkevich needs a good solo killer and contester. It might be worth it to swap a Decimator for another Juggernaut and take a 4 point solo. Harkevich is on a 2 game win streak. Who will he fight next? Stay tuned!

Warmachine Battle Reports: Mercenaries (Drake MacBain) vs. Khador (Harkevich) Steamroller 2016 - Extraction

Here's today's Lists:

Warcaster: Drake MacBain
Warcaster Attachment: Sylys Wyshnalyrr
Warjack: Galleon
Unit: Nyss Hunters
Unit: Kayazy Assassins
Unit Attachment: Kayazy Underboss
Solo: Eiryss 2
Solo: Kell Bailoch
Solo: Harlan Versh
Solo: Orin Midwinter
Solo: Saxon Orrik

Warcaster: Harkevich
Warjack: Behemoth
Warjack: Black Ivan
Warjack: Destroyer
Warjack: Devastator
Warjack: Decimator
Warjack: Juggernaut

Drake MacBain pulled off a well played strategic with a strong attrition game vs. Zerkova 2 (read the battle report here) in his last game. Now he's up against a monster Warjack spam army and Harkevich's ability to get them up the battlefield quickly. Let's see how they do!

Top of Turn 1: Khador - Harkevich casts Mobility which gives all his battlegroup +2 SPD and Pathfinder. He then moves up behind his Bunker Objective. His entire battlegroup runs up 12" and sets up for the slaughter next round.

Bottom of Turn 1: Mercenaries - The Nyss activate first and move up to take a combined shot against the Devastator. They do a few damage but nothing significant. Saxon Orrik gives the Kayazy Recon so they can run into the forest which they do. All of MacBain's infantry has to be careful because the Harkevich army has the capability of putting out 7x POW 7 AOE 4 and 3x POW 8 AOE 3s. Kell Bailoch moves into the forest and does 3 damage to the Destroyer.

The Galleon moves up and sets up to drag in whatever comes close. Orin Midwinter and Kell Bailoch run up and set up to Control the top flag. Eiryss moves up and disrupts the Behemoth. Drake MacBain activates and gives the Nyss Fortune, the Kayazy Assassins Countermeasure, and Fail-Safe to the Galleon. He debates on popping his feat but doesn't realize how much work Harkevich and Broadsides can do.

Top of Turn 2: Khador - Harkevich debates if he should cast Mobility and get his guys up the field or if he should save it for Broadsides (All models in his battlegroup get to make a free ranged attack) to spread some AOE love. He decides to go with the Broadsides strategy. The Behemoth moves up and misses two drifts into Eiryss. The Juggernaut runs up and tries to block Behemoth from the Drag that the Galleon is going to do next turn. Black Ivan takes a shot at the Galleon but only does 3 damage because of the +2 ARM from Fail-Safe.

The Destroyer moves up and is able to drift an AOE on the Kayazy Assassins killing 3 of them. The Decimator moves up and gets two lucky shots on the Nyss. The Devastator moves up and is stuck in Rough Terrain.

Harkevich activates and casts Broadsides giving all his battlegroup an extra shot. Behmoth lands an AOE on Eiryss 2 but fails to kill her. Black Ivan does 2 more damage to the buffed Galleon and everyone else misses.

Bottom of Turn 2: Mercenaries - Drake MacBain upkeeps Fail-Safe on the Galleon and allocates him 3 focus. The Nyss move in and are able to do some damage to the Decimator with a combined ranged attack. Saxon Orrik gives the Kayazy Recon again and they charge one is able to charge into the Decimator and plinks him with a couple damage. The rest run up and try to engage the enemy Warjacks.

Orin Midwinter and Kell Bailoch set up to contest and Control the top flag next turn. The Gallon activates next and puts 3 shots into the Behemoth doing a couple to it. He then drags in the Juggernaut and is close to finishing him off but leaves him on 7 boxes.

Eiryss 2 moves up and disrupts the Behemoth again. Kell Bailoch does 6 damage to the Destroyer.

Drake MacBain activates and casts Jackhammer 3x which allows the Galleon to make 3 extra Melee attacks. It was easily enough to finish the rest of the Juggernaut that was Dragged in.

Top of Turn 3: Khador - It's kind of hard to tell who's winning right now.it, Eiryss 2 has been a huge problem and so have the Kayazy which have been blocking charge lanes to the Fail-Safe'd Galleon. If they keep this up, the Galleon will be able to Drag in a Jack every turn and pummel it to death. Eiryss can keep another one in check and Kell Bailoch and the Nyss with CRA can start picking off cortexes. It might be looking good for Khador and their low volume of attacks.

After examining the battlefield Harkevich sees an opening. He allocates 1 to the Destroyer and holds the rest. He then activates and casts Mobility. Black Ivan begins his turn and launches a Boosted POW 14 shot at Drake MacBain who thinks he's safe behind a forest. The shot hits and does 8 damage.

The Destroyer goes next and moves behind Black Ivan and proceeds to do the same thing and launches a RNG 14" Boosted POW 14 Arcing Fire shot at MacBain. He hits and does another 9 damage to him which is enough for a tough check.

MacBain rolls a 4 and is assassinated.

Final Shot - This was quite a quick game because MacBain didn't realize how much threat range Harkevich gives his Warjacks. With Mobility, Black Ivan, Behemoth, and Destroyer can threaten 20" with 4x Boosted POW 14 Arcing Fire shots and 3x Unboosted. It was just a miscalculation on how dangerous this list is.

Harkevich and his jacks had a huge problem with Eiryss and need a more reliable way of taking her out. She really locked Behemoth down for 2 turns and caused him to not do any work. Possibly Kayazy Eliminators would be a counter to her.

Drake MacBain should have also popped his feat on Turn 2. 5 grunts wouldn't have really changed the outcome but his feat was wasted anyway.

Overall it was an interesting match up. If MacBain could have stayed safe he might have had the toolbox to attrition the Jack Spam.

Warmachine Battle Report: Khador (Zerkova 2) vs. Mercenaries (Drake Macbain) - Steamroller 2016 Extraction

Today we have the reigning Queen of Cold, Zerkova 2, fresh from shattering Krueger 2 into tiny bits of flesh and ice (View the battle report here) vs. Radioactive Man himself, Drake Macbain.

Here's today's Lists:

Warcaster: Zerkova 2 + Doomreaver Guard
Warjack: Behemoth
Unit: Greylord Outriders
Unit: Greylord Ternions
Unit: Kayazy Eliminators
Unit: Winter Guard Rifle Corps
Unit Attachment: Winter Guard Rocketeers x3
Unit: Aiyanna & Holt
Unit Attachment: Valachev
Solo: Kovnik Joe
Solo: Eiryiss 1
Warcaster: Drake Macbain
Warcaster Attachment: Sylys Wyshnalyrr
Warjack: Galleon
Unit: Nyss Hunters
Unit: Kayazy Assassins
Unit Attachment: Kayazy Underboss
Solo: Eiryss 2
Solo: Kell Bailoch
Solo: Harlan Versh
Solo: Orin Midwinter
Solo: Saxon Orrik

Top of Turn 1: Khador - The Greylord Outriders activate first and run behind the Forest in a tiered formation. While they out threat the Nyss, they want to set up in case there's an opportunity for an assassination at the top of turn 2. Eiryss gets in the forest and waits to hunt down Kell Bailoch.

The Winter Guard Rifle Corp and Kovnik Joe move up the right flank while the Greylord Ternions get bogged down by some rough terrain. Behemoth runs up along with Aiyanna & Holt. Zerkova 2 casts Telgesh Mark on the Kayazy Eliminators and moves up with her bodyguards.

Bottom of Turn 1: Mercenaries - The Gallon activates first and moves up the field. Drake Macbane casts Fail-Safe on the Galleon which gives him +2 ARM. He also casts Fortune on the Nyss which allows them to re-roll a missed attack roll. Finally he casts Countermeasure on the Kayazy Assassin and moves up behind the Galleon.

The Nyss  move up into range of the two Greylord Outriders that overextended themselves and with the help of Kell Bailoch, they are able to put 2 of them down significantly reducing the threat of a feat assassination. Harlan Versh and Orin Midwinter move up slowly on the right flank hoping to catch the Rifle Corps next turn. The Kayazy Assassins get a little help from Saxon Orrik and are able to run through rough terrain.

Round 1 completed

Top of Turn 2: Khador - Zerkova upkleeps Telgesh Mark and allocates 1 to the Behemoth in hopes that he can drift a few AOEs on to the Nyss. She moves up and casts Occult Whispers giving Friendly Faction models an additional die on Magical attacks. The Greylord Ternions move up and are able to take out Eiryss 2 with some lucky shots. The Greylord Outriders, now down to 3, are able to line up some amazing shots and take out 5 Kayazy Assassins and a few Nyss. Eiryss 1 moves in and takes out a Nyss along with Holt.

The Winter Guard Rifle Corps launch a combined ranged attack to the Galleon and only do about 6 damage total. The Rocketeers try to drift 3 AOE shots into Harlan Versh but fail to finish him off. Behemoth tries to drift 2 into Harlan Versh but also fails to kill him.

Bottom of Turn 2: Mercenaries - Drake Macbain upkeeps Fortune and Fail-Safe. He lets Countermeasure drop on the Kayazy Assassins because they've taken too many casualties. The remaining Kayazy Assassins charge up and kill off the last of the Greylord Ternions. Harlen Versh has 3 shots and uses them all to aim at the Rifle Corps and makes 3 kills. Orin Midwinter unleashes a bolt of electricity and manages to make it leap 3 spots killing a group of Rifle Corp.

The Nyss with Fortune combine together to finish off the last of the Greylord Outriders. Saxxon moves up and kills Aiyanna while Kell Bailoch snipes out Behemoth's #4 column.

A fully loaded Galleon does more work on the Behemoth with his shots and puts the hurt on him. Drake Macbain stays back behind the Galleon to make sure there's no chance to assassinate him and pops his feat rolling a 6. He uses his 11 True Grit "can't be killed" tokens and puts them on 3 Nyss, Kell Bailoch, Saxon Orrik, 3 Kayazy, Harlan Versh, Orin Midwinter, and Sylys.

Round 2 completed

Top of Turn 3: Khador - It's getting pretty grim for Zerkova 2 and company. Most of her assassination weapons were blown away. Eiryss 1 is able to work her way around the back and snipe out another Nyss. The Kayazy Eliminator is able to jam up Harlan Versh while the Rifle Corps try to do some work on the Galleon before it's too late but without much luck.

Zerkova's Doomreaver Guards move in but fail to take out the 2 Kayazy Assassins because of True Grit. Holt fails to do anything significant because of True Grit. True Grit really destroyed any hope Zerkova 2 had for an assassination run.

Bottom of Turn 3: Mercenaries - Drake Macbain upkeeps Fail-Safe on the Galleon and Fortune on the Nyss. He allocates 2 to the Galleon. The Nyss move up and take out Holt while the Kayazy Assassins finish off the Doomreaver Guard. Harlan Versh is able to easily kill the Kayazy Eliminator jamming him up because of the extra die he gets against models with Upkeeps (Telgesh Mark). Orin Midwinter launches another bolt arcing to 3 more models killing 2 Rocketeers and a member of the Rifle Corp.

Saxon kills some more Rifle Corp along with Kell Bailoch leaving the unit with 3 models. Gallon unleashes a barrage of shots on Behemoth taking out his Cortex.

Round 3 Complete

Top of Turn 4: Khador - Kovnik Joe activates and gives the Rifle Corp For the Motherland and they are able to kill Orin Midwinter. Zerkova goes and moves up in desperation. She pops her feat and casts Occult Whispers. Valachev is able to take out 3 of the Kayazy Assassins and Zerkova casts Telgesh Mark on the last Rifle Corp grunt. Behemoth shoots at the Galleon but has no luck. Eiryss 2 continues moving around the back and takes out another Nyss.

Bottom of Turn 4: Mercenaries - Drake Macbain loads up the Gallon and Upkeeps Fortune on the Nyss for free. The Nyss then activate and get Eiryss 2 to 1 life. Kell Bailoch aims and snipes another 6 damage off of the Behemoth. Drake Macbane swaps out Forntune and puts it on the Galleon and then takes a shot at the Rifle Corp killing the last grunt.

The Galleon then activates and kills off the last Rocketeer and uses his harpoon to Drag in the Behemoth and finishes him off easily.

Top of Turn 5: Khador - Sensing the impeding doom, Zerkova 2 moves up and dominates the flag. She camps her full stack hoping for a miracle. Eiryss 2 moves in and shoots  down Kell Bailoch. Kovnik Joe moves up and shoots at Macbain and does no damage.

Top of Turn 5: Mercenaries- Drake Macbain upkeeps Fortune and fully loads the Galleon. The Galleon then activates and boosts a Harpoon shot on Zerkova and sucks her in. He does 5 damage on the boosted shot. He then stabs her with his Harpoon doing a massive 15 damage instantly killing her.

Overview: Zerkova 2 had a much harder time vs. ranged than expected. Most of her assassination tools were picked off early by Galleon, Nyss, Kell Bailoch, Harlan Versh, and Orin Midwinter. She has very few options of delivering her team safely and has to rely on being out of range. The Greylord Ternions could have thrown up clouds but it wouldn't have helped much with all the accurate guns on the Mercenaries side.

Zerkova 2 should have sensed the problem with the Gun Line and used her feat to take care of it instead of waiting and waiting for the assassination shot to open up which never did.

The Mercenaries did a great job of prioritizing targets by taking out important models that would cause them problems. Fail-Safe was amazing on the Galleon making him tough to deal with. A key moment was when Harlen Versh was able to trigger Purgation on the Kayazy Eliminators with Telgesh Mark. They were the last chance Zerkova had to arc node an assassination.

Overall there were many mistakes made by Zerkova 2 and her crew and Macbain was able to capitalize for the attrition/assassination win.

Warmachine Battle Report - Circle (Krueger 2) vs. Khador (Zerkova 2) - Steamroller 2016

Krueger 2 was the reigning champion from the last game, eeking out an assassination vs. Vlad 2. Today he fights Zerkova 2 and her army of magic slingers. Normally vs. a shooty army, Krueger 2 would be safe with Windstorm but now he has to deal with magical spray army which is a great counter for it. Let's see how it goes!

Deployment - Circle wins the die roll and decides to go first. The amount of Advanced Deploy allows him to counter deploy the druids vs. the Greylord Outriders since their UA can protect them from their Cold Magical Sprays.

Khador notices that Krueger 2 is deployed towards his friendly flag in hopes of some early domination and sets up their magical assassins accordingly.

Turn 1 Top: Circle Orboros - Circle runs up and prepares to dominate their friendly flag next round. The Druids get some protection in the forest and wait for the advancing Greylord Outriders which they will be immune to next turn.

Krueger 2 casts Windstorm to protect from short ranged shots but it seems he is too far back for it to apply to anything that matters since most of Khador's attacks will be sprays.

Turn 1 Bottom: Khador - Khador gets their magical units in position to run into Krueger 2's range next turn. The Greylord Outriders run up against the Druids in a tiered formation in hopes that a few survive next round.

Behemoth moves in and launches 2x shots at the Druids in the forest which are about 1" out of range but gets lucky with the deviations and kills 3 Druids.

Eiryss moves in to try and kill the Blackclad Wayfarer and needs an 8 to kill him but rolls a 4. She is in trouble.

Zerkova 2 activates and gets Telgesh Mark on the Kayazy Eliminators and moves up the field. The Kayazys are now Arc Nodes and run up behind Aiyana & Holt who have also safely advanced up.

Turn 1 Overview- It was pretty dumb for Eiryss to move up so close to the Blackclad Wayfarer. It's a bad trade. The Behemoth's deviating 4" AOEs really helped open up the battlefield for the Outriders.

Turn 2 Top: Circle Orboros - The Druids activate first and see how much damage they can do to the Greylord Outriders. The UA casts his Elemental Protection so the Druids are immune to their cold damage spells while the other Druids plink away at them. There were a few bad rolls but with the help of the Stone Keeper, they are able to remove an Outrider.

Behemoth is still too far up to charge with the Warpwolf Stalker, even with Gallows and Telekinesis so he just runs up just out of his charge range. The Blackclad Wayfarer is pissed at Eiryss and unleashes a spray which annihilates her. The Wold Guardian is able to Geomancy and kill a Ternion with a Gallows.

Krueger 2 is able to set up and dominates his friendly flag and will score a point as long as no one contests next turn.

Turn 2 Bottom: Khador - Zerkova 2 sees an opening and plans out her assassination attempt. The order of activation has to be just right for it to work. She allocates 1 to the Behemoth and upkeeps Telgesh Mark and prepares for battle.

The Greylord Outriders are in a great position as they can be in melee and still cast their spells. They activate and take out 1 of the Gallows Groves and plink at Krueger 2 doing 3 damage to him after he transfers a 7 pointer to the War Argus. The Greylord Ternions run into position. The rough terrain gives them a little bit of a hard time.

Aiyana and Holt then activate and Holt is able to hit Krueger for a couple damage but Aiyana misses Kiss of Lyliss. The Kayazy Eliminators run through models and get into place just out of melee range of any Circle units.

Zerkova now activates. She casts Occult Whispers giving all Friendly Faction models an extra die on attacks and moves up. She has 2 Focus left and pops feat which allows all Friendly Faction models in her control area to cast a spell for free. She casts Hoarfrost through the Kayazy Eliminator Arc Nodes and boosts it giving her 4 dice to hit because of Occult Whispers. Zerkova 2 lands a critical which makes Krueger 2 Stationary. She hits him for 6 damage with boosted dice.

Next, Aiyana & Holt activate. She casts Kiss of Lylsiss and it sticks. Holt then shoots Krueger 2 for a couple damage leaving him with only a few. The Greylord Outriders activate and shatter Krueger 2 into tiny bits of blood and ice.

Turn 2 Overview - Behemoth and the two remaining Ternions didn't even activate yet which would have added a POW 12 shot and 2x Boosted POW 14s. Krueger was not surviving that barrage.

Final Shot - This seemed like a bad match up for Krueger to begin with. The fact that Windstorm only works vs. ranged attacks really made it so he had no defenses. He couldn't block LOS because most of the shots were sprays and Behemoth would have just arced over whoever was in front of him. Krueger 2's feat didn't really play that much of a part in it since most of the models were outside of 14" when they began their turns.

The only way for Krueger 2 to survive that assassination turn would be to camp 7 fury and ride it out. It would probably really hurt his battlegroup but he would be able to heal them and hopefully take out most of the threats next turn.

Zerkova 2's feat and spell list are amazing against high DEF low ARM casters. You have decent odds of getting Crit Stationary on Hoarfrost with 4 dice. I think I might pick up a Koldun Lord even through he's pretty lame otherwise. A second unit of Outriders would be amazing but just expensive monetarily and I wouldn't use 2x in any other list.

Zerkova 2 is really fun and I plan to get her on the battlefield more often. Stayed tuned for her next match up!

Crossroads of Courage - Ol' Jeb Scenario

For Game Night we decided to try out the new Crossroads of Courage scenario where you had to escort Ol' Jeb to the mine entrance in your opponent's deployment zone. I had the pleasure of watching Austin (Cygnar) and Ryan (Cryx) play a close 5 hour 75 point game.

Austin played Kara Sloan with 2x Defenders, 2x Hunters, 2x Chargers, 2x Gun Mage Captain Adepts, Trencher Commandos, and Reinholdt. He was hoping to be the Attacker and easily kill Ol' Jeb with her feat turn but unfortunately he randomly was chosen to defend Ol' Jeb.

Ryan played the Witch Coven and brought a sweet Kraken along with 2x Stalkers, 2x Deathrippers, a Shrike, Satyxis Raiders + UA, 2x Pistol Wraiths and a Necrotech.

The board was heavy on terrain so Sloan couldn't get a quick assassination. On her feat turn she crippled the Kraken along with doing some work on the Stalkers.

It was looking grim as the Satyxis Raiders used Feedback to get Kara Sloan to 4 HP. Ol' Jeb was also trapped by a Shrike, a Pistol Wraith, and a Kraken that was closing in. Eventually a Defender was able to take out the Kraken and swing attrition over to Cygnar but it was too late. Cryx had jammed up Ol Jeb and killed everything around him so he couldn't Sucker. Eventually he was knocked down and made Stationary which locked him down for 2x turns. The Witches were able to shoot a spell and kill him for the win.

After that game, Austin and Ryan played another one with Ryan controlling Ol' Jeb. This time Austin feated with Sloan and tried to take out Ol' Jeb but he was able to transfer all the damage to the Satyxis Raiders. Ryan's retaliation was harsh as he moved up with his Kraken and shot a Hail Mary at Sloan on a hill. He needed 13's to hit and got it. He then cranked the damage roll and got her down to 2 HP. Feedback on a Charger took care of the rest.

Crossroads of Courage looks fun. Unfortunately I didn't get a game in because they took 1 hour turns. It was fun to watch though.

Khador - Vlad 2
Waracaster: Vlad 2
Warjack: Ruin
Warjack: Marauder
Unit: Man-O-War Shocktroopers x2
Unit: Kayazy Eliminators
Unit: Greylord Outriders
Solo: Man-O-War Kovnik
Solo: Man-O-War Drakhun
Solo: Saxon Orrik

Circle Orboros - Krueger 2
Waracaster: Krueger 2
Warbeast: Warpwolf Stalker
Warbeast: War Argus
Warbeast: Megalith
Warbeast: Wold Guardian
Warbeast: Gorax
Unit: Druids
Unit Attachment: Druid Overseer
Unit: Shifting Stones
Unit: Shifting Stones
Unit Attachment: Stone Keeper
Solo: Blackclad Wayfarer
Solo: Gallows Groves
Solo: Gallows Groves

Top of Turn 1 - Circle Orboros: Krueger 2 and his forces move up the table and take control of the forest in the center of the board. The Druids lead the charge.

Bottom of Turn 1 - Khador: Vlad 2 gets his buffs out. He first casts Hand of Fate on the Greylord Outriders and then Assail on Ruin. He finishes his turn casting Arcane Might on himself. The Man-O-War Kovnik gives Desperate Pace to the Man-O-War Shocktroopers in the front and Saxon Orrik gives them Reconnaissance. Everyone else runs up to close the gap.

Top of Turn 2 - Circle Orboros: The Druids are pretty effective this round. They use Pulse of the Earth to knock down the front line of the Shocktroopers while the UA protects them from Greylord sprays. The Blackclad Wayfarer is able to spray into the Outriders and kills 2. Megalith and the Wold Guardian use Geomancy and telekinesis 2 of the Shocktroopers back and turn them around. Krueger 2 gets in position behind the flag in hopes he can score a point next turn.

Bottom of Turn 2 - Khador: Vlad 2 upkeeps Assail on Ruin, Arcane Might on himself, and Hand of Fate on the Greylord Outriders. The Greylords can't target the Druids because they are immune to cold so they focus on the Shifting Stones and the Blacklack Wayfarer. They are able to kill the Blackclad Wayfarer but only do minimal damage to the Stones. The Man-O-War Kovnik gives the front Shocktroopers Desperate Pace again and Saxon gives them recon. Both units of Shocktroopers move up and are able to kill a few druids. The Man-O-War Drakhun is able to charge the War Argus and does significant damage. Vlad 2 runs behind the Shocktroopers while Marauder and Ruin line up to take a beating. No one scores.

Turn 3 - Circle Orboros: A Primaled Warpwolf Stalker was able to take out Ruin and put some good hurt on the Marauder taking his Right Arm and Cortex out. The Druids used their Pulse of the Earth and knocked down the Shocktroopers again while the Wold Guardian is able to do some work on the Shocktroopers. Krueger 2 scores his first point at the top of 3.

Turn 3 - Khador: The Greylord Outriders go in and are able to take out some of the Shifting Stones and their UA. The Shocktroopers kill 4 Druids and the Drakhun finishes off the War Argus. Vlad 2 moves behind the Man-O-War wall in hopes that he won't get shot. Khador is able to contest so it is still 1-0 Circle.

Top of Turn 4 - Circle: The Stalker Frenzies and does some damage to the Marauder. The remaining Druids try to knock down the Shocktroopers to give Krueger 2 LOS to Vlad 2 who is camping 0. They are able to get him LOS and the Wold Guardian uses telekinesis to move Krueger 2 up 2". Krueger 2 then aims and begins to shoot Vlad 2 with Sustained Attack Boosted POW 12s. He is able to take Vlad down to 4 life but is now left in the open. Megalith is able to easily dispatch of the Kayazy Eliminators who are also knocked down.

Bottom of Turn 4 - Khador: Vlad pops his Feat and rolls a 1. He then snuggles behind the Man-O-War Kovnik. The Man-O-War Shocktroopers stand up and with the help of the Drakhun, they finish off the Wold Guardian. The Marauder tries to kill the Stalker but misses 4 times needing 7s. The Greylord Outriders are able to finish off the Druids and do 8 damage to Krueger 2 which is transfered to the Gorax. Saxon Orrik just ran to engage both Megalith and Krueger 2.

Top of Turn 5 - Circle: It was fairly simple to get LOS from Krueger 2 to Vlad 2. Megalith just needed to kill Saxon Orrik with a boosted attack and then Geomancy a telekinesis on the Man-O-War Kovnik. Krueger 2 then activated and aimed. He needed 7's to hit and got it.

To do 1 damage Vlad 2 who was at ARM 18 and was camping 3 focus, Krueger 2 would need to roll 12s. He needed to do 4 damage. His first shot cranks it and even though Vlad 2 was fairly same he was able to roll a 15 to kill him.

Win for Circle Orboros with Krueger 2 by Assassination.

All Stars - The Druids are not as bad as everyone says they are in MK3. They do a ton of work with their pushing and knocking down. Krueger 2 is also pretty nasty with his Sustained Attack 12" POW 12 ROF 3 gun. The Greylord Outriders also did a fair amount of damage and would have been a lot more trouble if 2 of them weren't killed by a single Blackclad Wayfarer.

Sorscha 1 vs. Butcher 3 - Steamroller 2016 Khador vs. Khador

I needed a little more practice with my Steamroller 2 list pairing so I decided to pit the sweetest MK3 casters in Khador against each other in an all out bare knuckled brawl to see who would come out on top.

Sorcha 1

Warcaster: Sorcha 1
Warcaster Attachment: Reinholdt
Warjack: Behemoth
Warjack: Destroyer
Battle Engine: War Wagon
Unit: Rifle Corps
Unit Weapon Attachment: Rocketeer x3
Unit: Widowmakers
Solo: Marksman
Solo: Kovnik Joe
Solo: Eiyriss 1

Butcher 3

Warcaster: Butcher 3
Warcaster Attachment: Reinholdt
Warjack: Ruin
Warjack: Kodiak
Warjack: Juggernaut
Unit: Kayazy Assassins
Unit Attachment: Kayazy Underboss
Unit: Nyss Hunters
Unit Attachment: Valachev
Solo: Orin Midwinter

This game went a lot faster than I thought. I got greedy with Butcher 3 and tried to dominate the zone on the bottom of 2 and tank it out but he just can't hang vs. Sorscha's assassination threat.

On the top of 3, Sorscha had LOS to Butcher 3 and popped feat. Behemoth, a Destroyer, and some Winter Guard Rocketeers unleashed a barrage of shots and took him out.

I usually run a Bokur with Butcher 3 but thought the 3 Heavies would be enough to screen vs. most lists. Arching Fire bypassed all the Jacks and was able to seal the deal.
